Cycle for Cynthia 2010
29th June 2010
CYCLE4CYNTHIA 2010 - SUNDAY 26TH SEPTEMBER AT FRANKLINS GARDENS (HOME OF THE NORTHAMPTON SAINTS)
Just to explain, Cycle4Cynthia is an annual event which, in the six years it has run so far, has raised an incredible £150,000 for the two benefitting charities - The Friends of Cynthia Spencer Hospice and Northamptonshire's Macmillan Cancer Support.
We're hoping that this year's C4C can be our 'magnificent seventh' and to that end, as promised, I have attached a poster with all the details of the event. As you said, if you would be kind enough to add the details to your website, that would be fantastic - and indeed please do email it on to other cyclists whom you think might like to take part. We simply want to ensure that as many cyclists as possible get to hear about it!
This year the challenge is to encourage 1000+ cyclists to leap into their saddles with the aim of raising more than £50k - and with your help, we can do it. Entry is £10 per person and then it's a case of riders gathering as much sponsorship as they possibly can, all of which will go to these two most deserving of local causes. There are three distances from which riders can chose - 5, 25 and 50m - but it's not a race! All people need is access to two wheels, an enthusiasm for supporting the two charities and a desire to have fun at the same time! Further details can be found at www.cycle4cynthia.co.uk and that is where potential riders can also download entry and sponsorship forms.
I would be most grateful if you can help spread the word in what ever way you see fit - and on that note, if you wanted to enter a 45 Road Club team (great for publicity!) - please do let me know. It's a minimum of four per team and you can take it as seriously or as light-heartedly as you like...including doing the ride in fancy dress if you want to! For inspiration, I have also attached the photo of last year's superheroes team who, not surprisingly, won the best fancy dress prize!
Finally, we're working very hard towards securing the services of a high profile celebrity to open this year's event; last year we were delighted to have singer-songwriter Curtis Stigers perform the official duties - and this is what he said when we told him we had raised £36k....
"Fantastic work! I was thrilled and proud to be part of the event. It was a lovely experience for me. Very emotional, very inspiring. Thank you for asking me to participate."
Once again, thanks so much in helping us to help those with cancer and their families here in Northamptonshire.
Best wishes
