Earls Barton 10TT - 22nd May 2013
Earls Barton 10TT, only 6 entries probably due to the conditions, windy, blustery, and quite cold tonight. No one really enjoyed it other than Mike Berry, 4 secs off a long 26, was really good to see him back racing, his healing is clearly progressing well.A number of pictures, taken by David Brown, are also available in the gallery.

45 Road Club 10 Mile TT 15 th May 2013 Earls Barton Course. On a bright but rapidly cooling and almost windless evening round 1 of the 2013 EB/10TT Series took place with 5 riders making the line. Silverstone TT
Thank you to everyone that has put their name forward to take part in the Silvertsone 9 man TT on 19th July 2013. We now have enough riders (just) to enter 2 teams. Myself and Paul now have the difficult task of selecting which rider goes onto which team! I apologise now for anyone that believes we have got it wrong! The teams below are our initial thoughts but of course it is subject to change.

The format is 3 laps of the full GP circuit which I believe is approx 3.2miles per lap. In order to get a final time each team needs to get at least 5 riders over the line. If its anything like last year it will be a cracking evening of racing. Warm up starts at 1800hrs and the racing starts at 1900hrs.

All Club members,Currently we do not have any volunteers to put signs out,collect signs or to timekeep on Weds 22nd May. I also only have John Crisp volunteering for the following week (29th).
If I cannot find anyone willing to spare a couple of hours on these dates the TT will unfortunately have to be cancelled!
Please can we all have a look at our diaries and see if we can help out.

NDCA 10TT - 11/05/2013 Results

Thanks once again Team for another successful race. The weather not on our side but everyone returned safe and sound to enjoy the wonderful cakes back at the village hall. The race could not be put on without the help and consideration of you all.

George's Week - 5th - 12th May '13
I'd rested all weekend with some easier rides to get ready for Monday, and for a change my legs actually felt ready to race. I rode the course last summer so knew what to expect but went with bigger gears this year (56/11) ready for the fast downhill section. As soon as I got to the first turn I knew I was well up on last years time of 20.49 but just stayed focused on getting down the hill and round the second turn safely, there was very little traffic which made negotiating the roundabout pretty easy and with just 2 miles to go my average was 30.1mph, the last 2 miles swung round into the wind and I suffered a lot because of it and came home with a time of 20.25, my second best 10 ever. Also there on the day was Kev Hardwick who managed a cracking new PB of 20.46 for his first time on the course.
Tuesday was another couple of easy rides to try and recover for Wednesday.
Wednesday came with 15mph more wind, but thankfully it was in a good direction. I had all my average speeds from Monday flying round in my head and having only been on the course 2 days before I knew where I could push harder to make better gains. Off the bottom of the hill my average was 30.5mph and I still had 30.3mph off the back of the second turn, then it was possibly the hardest 2 miles I have ever ridden, with my heart rate getting up to 98% of my maximum, but even swinging back into the wind I only dropped to 30.2mph. My Garmin said 19.49 with an official time of 19.55, nice to finally get some form back after the knee injury!!
With next weekends 50 in mind I chose to race the handicap for training instead of the NDCA 10 on Saturday, after getting a small gap from the 3rd cats straight away I had 40 minutes virtually by myself, and finally got caught by scratch in the last 5 laps, but managed to roll over the line with Steve Colbert with him taking second and me having third. Positive signs after Wednesdays efforts anyway!
