To meet delivery dates, the ordering web page will be closed on Friday night the 27th January and no longer be available on-line. The orders will be collated over the weekend and this will be sent to the supplier on Monday 30th January. There is about 5 week delivery so kit will be available during the first couple of weeks in March.

News from Hillingdon races...

LIAM STONES opened his 2012 road race campaign with a close-up third place at the eighth round of the Imperial Winter Series in West London.
Riding in his new colours of Team Corley Cycles, the 23-year-old Ecton rider was in an eight-strong break which formed in the early stages of the hour-long elite race on the Hillingdon circuit and stayed away to the finish where Jamie Pine (London Dynamo) took the sprint ahead of Tom Smith (Felt Colbornes RT) and Stones.
“We all worked together nicely to stay away – I just wasn’t in the best position for the sprint although it was very close as we crossed the line,” said Stones, who began racing less than a year ago. “I really went down just to judge how I am going, if the training is paying off and to compare it to this time last year. “Overall, I was very pleased with third place as it showed my improvement from the bottom ranks to the top in just the year.
“I hope that I can continue to get stronger and have the same improvement by the start of next season. “But in between that, I’m sure there will be lots of highs and lows and a huge amount of suffering to look forward to!”
Tom Kruger finished in the main body of the field in 18th place, while 45 Road Club team-mate George Fox took a fine third place in the race for fourth categories – won by Matthew Bone (I-Team) – which ended in a bunch sprint after Fox and Kettering’s Joel Lewis had made the early running.

At the 2011 annual general meeting it was decided that membership for 2012 would only be open to clubs offering to organise events. The following clubs indicated at the AGM that they were willing to organize events :-

Fenland Clarion CC
Numplumz Mountain Bikers
Loughborough Students CC
Peterborough CC
Welland Valley CC
Entry to races is therefore only open to members of those ten clubs.
1st, 2nd , 3rd and 4th category riders (which includes women and juniors) are eligible to ride.
Race entry procedure:
Each member club has an ‘NCRA club captain’

Each club has 4 automatic places for each of the three series for each race it promotes, so Fenland Clarion CC, Kettering CC, Peterborough CC, Rockingham Forest Wheelers and Welland Valley CC all have 8 places for each series, while Loughborough Students CC, Numplumz Mountain Bikers, Renault Rotor Colbert RT, St Ives CC and 45RC all have 4 places for each series.

An article written with an update of one of our club members, Liam Stones, from a few notes he recently sent to me at the club. He has said that obviously the racing hasn't really kicked of yet but has just come back from a two week training camp in Portugal which was "brilliant and has set a good base now to build onto for the season". He will also be leaving early February for the second training camp in Majorca. He describes "that is where the hard part starts and we have to start digging deep in getting ready for the first races of the season".

On recent rides he said "I did race at Hillingdon just recently to try and judge my performance, and was placed third in the e/1/2/3. I think that was good considering this time last year I had not ever raced before! So things are looking up for the 2012 season although I know it will be much harder this year and I see it as my building block for 2013 where I expect to have the experience and strength to do much better".
Finally he said, "I have put down to race in the Rutland cycle classic and various Premier calendar races and hopefully I will be doing the tour series city centre crits which are very local this year so once I find out what I'm doing for sure I will update you"!!

Another weekend....another ride and race!
I hope everyone has had a great Christmas and wishing you all a Happy New Year!
Over the weekend many club members have been busy riding all over the country. Firstly, myself, George Speedy Fox, Ed and Chris all racing at Hillingdon. With a chilly but bright day the perfect winter racing conditions were provided. George made a debut in his first ever road race quickly showing the field that he had the legs to put them under some pressure.
While this was going on, Chris and Ed were also busy at the head of the 3rd cat race dishing out some pain. Once they had finished it was once again time for me to receive yet another lesson on how to race a bike J Going as a group allowed us to watch other club members succeed as the club was represented in all categories throughout the day. I plan to be racing again on Saturday if anyone is interested…………….. Let me know J
After the first 15 minutes of motor pacing drills was over, some red faces started to appear. By the end of the 3 hour session all riders were satisfied with their experience and look forward to returning. We will next be returning in Feb with the Kettering Club as Gavin kindly offered us some spaces.

Boxing Day Beer & Pudding Trophy RaceThe Boxing Day 9.4mile Race for the "Beer and Pudding Trophy" took place on NC15, the "Old" TT Circuit on the 26th Dec 2011.

George "Speedy" Fox rides his bike at 27.007 MPH - that's the official average speed George achieved in this years junior Best All Rounder in the ECCA. George beat the 5 other contenders in this years competition which was won in 2010 by 45 Road Club's very own Tom Kruger.
The Championship is decided on the riders' average speed over three 10 mile ECCA eligible events.
